We all want that tight muscle toned body, right? That great healthy, athletic looking physique!… So, we are very mindful when it comes to consuming good amounts of our protein charged foods, such as: fish, meat, eggs and dairy, to make this happen. After all – we all know that protein is the number one building block for muscle tissue. The problem, however, is many of us become so hung up, and gung-ho on meeting our protein intake requirements that we often get tunnel vision, and neglect to include enough of the healthy, body alkalizing foods into our diets. This results in an acidic internal environment – an environment where many ailments and  cancers like to take hold.

At this point, some of you may be thinking, “Well, it sounds good and all, but I’ve tried green smoothies in the past and they just don’t agree with my taste buds”. Well, here are 3 tips you can implement to help change that:

1- Don’t add so many different greens! Doing so can taste like you’ve just taken a nose dive on a football field and swallowed a mouthful of turf. When you make your next smoothie, do what I like to call the “4-1 Method”. That is to say, add no more than a maximum of 4 different types of greens, and 1 green apple for sweetness.

2- Still find this a little unpalatable? Add a tiny splash of diet cordial. Over the course of a month or so, continue to gradually pull back on the amount of diet cordial, weening yourself off.

3- When drinking your smoothie, think of the many great life changing properties you are consuming. As the famous Hippocrates’ saying goes – “Let Thy Food Be Thy Medicine, And Thy Medicine Be Thy Food”.

 

Try the following ‘BEFORE BREKKY’ smoothie to launch yourself to a great day. To a Blender add:

  • 1 Cup Cold Water
  • 1/2 Green Capsicum
  • 1 Celery Stick
  • 1/3 Continental Cucumber (skin on)
  • Small Handful Baby Spinach Leaves
  • 1 Green Apple
  • Tiny Splash of Diet Cordial (if required)
